Achievements of the government during Modi's reign!




What do you think are the achievements of the government during Modi's reign? I will be answering this question sporadically in the upcoming days; No prejudiced opinions or pre-conceived notions, but only facts, statistics and proofs!
#1 Narendra Modi’s achievement in increasing the Renewable energy capacities rank galaxies away from what was achieved & predicted by the previous governments. India now has a railway station fully operated by solar power - Guwahati railway station. Can't believe? Stay on!
Just before he assumed office i.e in 2014, the total Solar Power capacity of the country was 2.65 GW and the UPA government had set the target to install 22GW by 2022. The government felt that the low target wasn't ambitious enough, and so revised it to achieve 100GW by 2022 and effected several important policy changes towards achieving the same.
4 years ahead of the schedule, this government has remarkably achieved a solar capacity of 25.21 GW as per the data released by ministry on Dec-31,2018[increased over 8 times]. Wind capacity has also been increased by 1.6 times from 21 GW to 34 GW in 2018.
Indian Railways is the single largest consumer of electricity with roughly 2 percent share of national energy consumption. You could now see solar panels at every major train station, on EMU's & Express Trains, an important step in the mission of Indian Railways- becoming a net-zero carbon emitter by 2030.
Modi's ideas & efforts couldn't have been better recognised than the formation of International Solar Alliance, a first-of-its-kind within two years of his proposal, with 112 countries all orienting to put in massive efforts to leverage solar energy.

Ladies, Please spare a minute before you innocuously blurt out 'When's the good news?'

For those of you who have no idea about 'the good news' that I am talking about, its not neither about an achievement of passing an exam with A Grade nor its about the new job in a top-notch company, but for Indian women, it questions their ability to accomplish two things in life - if you are unmarried, when is the D-day? If married when are you planning to get pregnant? A very casual, spontaneous question directed at someone who is already having a hard time trying to conceive and made sure that this is within the earshot of the other ladies around - Its more than a social faux pas. When you scale all the horrible things in life, infertility/inability to conceive ranks galaxies away from the worst. I loved kids. After marriage when I was all set to have one, I thought it would happen naturally and didn't want to go work about having them. Six months gone.
